Advice about Med School...?
The answer you seek is that nothing you do above and beyond the prerequisites will hurt your chances and could be the difference between you and someone else for the last spot. They will pick the applicant who did more outside of the classroom. Plus research (if you take it seriously) will teach you analytical and problem solving skills that will help you later in your career.
I did the research, applied everywhere and anywhere. My secret to the process was to do a grad program at the school I wanted to go to (Jefferson Medical College). Then I was able to develop relationships with the folks who would decide my fate. As for the MCAT, practice tests are the secret. Tell yourself the answer is in front of you and see if the physics answers can help give away the formula or train of thought the question writer had. This came to me after taking every practice test I could find. It worked - 1st test 18 combined Actual test 35 11 bio 11 verbal 13 physical Good luck! Oh and write very polished and honest personal statement. |
