what for him??
My friend came to the UK for Asia. He was a senior teacher and a Social Worker as well. He has done his Masters in English Literature. His qualifications are not considered as equivalent to our here in the UK. His Masters is taken as our Bachelors!

What should he do now? What jobs are available for him? He is around 49 now so wont be good idea to go to university for him. What should he do?

He is looking for teaching in the UK but it needs him a training and good score in IELTS(language test). I heard private schools dont need that training as they look for experience. is that true?

any suggestion would be great. Thanks.
what for him??
Get him to register with a teachers supply agency for covering sick leave, etc.
This will get him some money and experience in different schools. In time one of them might offer him a job. |

what for him??
If he wants to teach, he is half way there! he needs to take a one year course - ECDL which gives him the Qualified Teachers Certifiate. He can choose what age group he would like to teach - infants, primary, secondary and adult education.
His other option is to look into schools which offer training on the job - you need a Bachelors to do this - which your friend has. This also gives Qualified Teachers Certificate after a year. Many schools like older people teaching as they have a wealth of life experience and offer so much more. 49 is not old! Tell him to go for it! |
