i have been studying in australia for 4years, i completed my degree in computer science and software developement and am working full time in an govt. institution.<br />my problem is i sat the IELTS and am short of 0.5 points to apply for the PR.<br />i am told i can apply for a provisional visa, still the problem is i work in Queensland and i am told the position i currently hold is not considered as a skilled occupation in QLD.what can I do? Do I have any other options?<br />if so whats the ASCO code for it....<br />thank you in advance.<br />

I would suggest you reapply with the help of a decent agent, and at the same time look for job offers in NSW.

The Immigration system here tends to try and exclude applicants, as it works on a quota system and as you know we are headed into an election.

It sounds to me like your length of stay and qualifications provide a good basis for your application and you just got unlucky because you didn't make the best of your presentation.

I personally think your best bet would be to apply for a skilled migrant visa. You can take advantage of your Australian education here and your (probable) youth. Get a decent agent to help you.
