Need an alternate medicine for obtructive sleep apnea apart from surgery?
My wife is suffering from obstructive sleep apnea, her upper airways both through nose and throat narrowed and her oxigen rate while sleeping comes down drastically to 40%. Suggested surgery but not cooperative. Asks for homeo medicine. Snores loudly, with abdominal breathing. Any suggestion for curing through homeopathy or some alternate medicine is welcome<br />

Need an alternate medicine for obtructive sleep apnea apart from surgery?
I agree that there are methods for dealing with "sleep apnea." There are some alternative methods for coping with and basically "improving" the status of one with this condition.
The doctors listed below are proven "real" doctors with an alternative slant. Try them and do better as soon as you can. Peace, Love and God Bless. |

Need an alternate medicine for obtructive sleep apnea apart from surgery?
I use a CPAP machine. Blows a little pressure of air in my nose and opens my throat so I can breath. After 15 years of wondering why I was tired I started. Now I sleep like a baby and love the machine. Most people say that they don't want anything straped to their face. Well, try it. It dosen't bother me at all. Just looks horrible to the grandkids.

Need an alternate medicine for obtructive sleep apnea apart from surgery?
My significant other has a mild case of SA & lots of snoring. His doctor recommended weight loss. I am not assuming that your wife is in need of weight loss, but many times an extra 10 lbs or so can make a difference. We have been trying to eat healthier and be more active & atheletic. His snoring is a little more tolerable than before. If she is a high risk, you should seriously consider taking your doctor's advice for surgery, as this can seriously be a major risk to her.

eucalyptus stuff might loosen her up a bit.
maybe go to a doctor of chinese medicine where they do acupuncture and herbal stuff. i also suffer from sleep apnea, but the moderate kind. ive found the deep abdominal breathing excercises to be a big help. youre not going to like this one, but honeslty ive tried numerous medications, and nothing keeps my sleep tiptop like a certain type of cookie or brownie, with a certain special ingredient. eat one of those a few hours before you go to sleep, and there isnt any sleep apnea in the world that will choke you out of a good nights sleep. a breathing machine will also force the air in and out of her and basically breathe at a steady rate for her. see if you can get a plan that will cover one of those. |

Need an alternate medicine for obtructive sleep apnea apart from surgery?
PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN CONSIDERING THE OTHER ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTION. They may be life threatening.
Sleep apnea is a potentially life threatening disrorder. Sleep apnea is associated with increased risk of stroke, heart attack, deadly heart rhythms and other problems. Treatment for sleep apnea, as with other potentially deadly disorders, should be based on REAL science. Alternative medicine might not be harmful when used for less dangerous disorders. But when it comes to deadly disorders, only proven treatments should be used......and, yes, I do believe in some 'alternative' therapies like accupuncture and others for some disorders..... But...for sleep apnea, treatment should be limited to scientifically proven methods (proved by REAL scientists in REAL universities). The accepted treatments for sleep apnea include: CPAP (Continuous positive airway pressure), weight loss, oral appliance (mouthpiece made BY DENTIST), and oral surgery. That is IT. Those ARE the proven methods for treating sleep apnea. There are other advertised treatments for sleep apnea (nose strips, magnets, sprays, homeopathy, sound devices, hypnosis, voodoo)....None of them have been demonstrated to be effective in REPRODUCIBLE studies....that means that scientists from different labs were not able to get the same results as the individuals who made the claim.... So please be careful. Doctors may not know everything in medicine....but they know a lot more than general public about these disorders. Good luck.
