Try mixing honey with some lemon juice. That works well for me when I have a sore throat, and it usually doens't develop into a cold if I start that as soon as my throat starts hurting.

Go to the store and by Zinc as soon as you can. It comes in many forms from spray to lozenges.

Hot water honey and lemon. Mix a thick syrup of it and let it slide down your throat. Try to hhold it in your throat until it melts. Somebody used to put a little whiskey in it.

you might want to try that ocilliococinum stuff, or possably cold calm, (both by BOIRON, a homeopathic drug maker...?) depending on which cures the symptoms you have. they can be found at drugstores such as walmart and raleys with the health food or natural drugs.
