I think everyone's hair is different, so it is different for everyone. Some people say to shampoo and condition your hair every other day, but my hair would be disgusting if I did that. I guess if you were only thinking about health and not about appearance you should do that. Also, I would do a deep conditioning once a week or every other week.

Wash your hair every day with a gentle shampoo (and conditioner if u need it) and don't brush it too much because that make it oily. Also don't blow dry it, strighten it, or curl it too much because those dry out your hair.

TO have healthy hair, the first thing you need to do is eat right. Plenty of protein helps make your hair supple, and plenty of water helps the follicles develop hair shafts better.
Once it's visible, though, all you can do is keep it in good condition and protect it from damage. Anything chemical you put on your hair - hairspray, gel, mousse, coloring, perms, straighteners, etc. - dries out your hair, as does heat from curling irons, flatirons, and hair dryers. Try to minimize use of those things to keep it healthy. Use a shampoo that has UV protectants in it to help guard against the color fading. Don't excessively brush it, and when it's wet, always comb - never brush! It's very fragile when wet, and breaks easily, so take care when detangling it. Also, get your ends trimmed regularly. A split end that goes for too long will travel right up the shaft of the hair, something like a run in pantyhose. Clipping them off will help to keep that damage down. Wash it as often as it needs washing. For people who don't sweat much and/or have dry skin, washing every couple of days might be better, but if your hair starts to clump together after one day, you need to wash it more often. Use a good quality shampoo and conditioner. My favorite store brand is Pantene Pro-V. There is a huge difference between Pantene and cheaper brands like Suave, and it's worth the money. Don't sleep in ponytail holders. If you must pull your hair back from your face, french braid it or something where the hair isn't hanging out loose. THis helps keep it from being pulled around when you sleep. |
