I am not able to open the mouth after root canal treatment.?
You're probably swollen in the jaw area. Some advil or tylenol should help but if you're concerned call the doctors office and ask the nurse if it's normal. If there's infection you don't want it to get out of hand.

I am not able to open the mouth after root canal treatment.?
This is due to swollen tissue in the gums and should go away in a day, if it lasts for more then a day you should contact you dentist and see if they can help you.
Some swelling is normal and some people have different reactions to root canal's but there shouldn't be any long lasting affects past a day.
It is possible to get an infection in the jaw after a root canal which may require the use of medication to treat.
So again if your not better in a day contact the dentist. |

I am not able to open the mouth after root canal treatment.?
I had the same thing after a root canal a couple weeks ago. It mostly went away after 2 days, but was still slightly noticeable after another couple days.

I think mine was due to some swelling and having to keep my mouth open that wide for that long, and from the pressure used to get my tooth all the way numb (the dentist was forcing the novacaine into the tooth after he had opened it up because I wasn't all the way numb) |

I am not able to open the mouth after root canal treatment.?
Hi i hope u'r well b4 u could read this msg.
Cmg to u'r point u have a condition known as trismus(inability to open u'r mouth wide),this can be due to many reasons most comon in RCT is prolong opening of the mouth for the RCT procedure. Most of the RCT's take a long time depending upon the tooth and in how many visits u'r getting it done.
Dont worry its a slight inflammation of u'r joint(jaw joint----v call it as a TMJ(temero mandibular joint) in dental).
1)take some anti inflammatory drugs/muscle relaxant.
2)hot packs over the joint region.
3)excercise u'r jaw(eg.u can eat a soft sugar free gum for few mins that will automatically improve u'r muscle action.)

P.S------If u'r trismus is due to some other source than u should consult u'r dentist back.,it can be also be from,
a)trauma from the needle at the injection site.
b)secondary infection.
etc.etc.... |
