Re: Sensetive teeth from Zoom whitening?

Its a usual thing which should subside. In case it does not then you will need to have your teeth checked.

Best Way to Whiten Up your Teeth:
---------------------------------
Everyone desires for sparking, bright & shiny teeth. Teeth whitening have been a helpful procedure to improve the colour of teeth. Teeth can be tinted on the surface due to drink or food, blackcurrant, red wine, tea; coffee has great effect on the yellowing of teeth. Smoking is also responsible for the discoloration of teeth. There are many solutions for whitening your teeth.
Laser whitening is called "power whitening"
This is quite an expensive method, but many people think that this is the perfect teeth whitening way. During this procedure, a rubber block is positioned over the teeth to protect the gum, & the whitening merchandise is then high lightened on the teeth. A laser is used to arouse the chemical. The light helps to boost the element reaction of bleaching product, in this way changed colour can be achieved more rapidly. Most of Dentists consider that laser whitening has always good result.

Simply because ALL tooth whitening products contain some form of PEROXIDES in them..which is the culprit for tooth sensitivity after bleaching. The good thing is, any sensitivity should disappear w/in a week or two. Your dentist should have told you that instead of promising improvements in 48 hours time.. Just for a while, avoid eating/drinking cold foods/drinks. Also try brushing your teeth w/ Sensodyne, to alleviate the sensitivity. If the sensitivity do not subside or gets worse after 2 weeks, then you should go back to your dentist and report it. You may have other problems like gum recessions, exposed dentin, or tooth cavities, that were already present before, but got worse when your teeth got exposed to acidic chemicals, such as the bleaching gels. Don't worry, because so far, in my practice, everybody that had undergone bleaching procedures had their post-op sensitivity resolved in a matter of 1 or 2 weeks. It's a reversible thing, dont worry.
I just have to say, this info. is sooooo helpful.

Re: Sensetive teeth from Zoom whitening?

I hate to say this, but a lot of the problem is education!
Many of the whiteners do have some sort of peroxide which can cause sensitivity.
But, either the patient doesn't listen, or the dentist isn't explaining the instructions good enough.
Yes, most of the take-home kits have instructions, but how many really ever read them?
Of coarse, they then assume the more material they shove in their mouth, or the longer they leave it in will whiten more, with faster results!
Say it with me........................................EDUCATIO N!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Sensetive teeth from Zoom whitening?

. They were fine during the process except for the last round they began to tingle and get sensetive. Now this morning they are even more sensetive. Teeth that were not tingleing before are now.

The ZOOM! Chairside Whitening system is a scientifically advanced, tooth whitening procedure. It is a safe and effective procedure. Your teeth will become dramatically whiter in less than hour! It is an ideal procedure for anyone looking for immediate results. The convenience of ZOOM! in comparison to days of wearing trays or strips makes it the perfect choice for the busy individual.

Procedure

The procedure begins with a short preparation to cover your lips and gums, leaving only your teeth exposed. The ZOOM! clinician then applies the proprietary ZOOM! whitening gel, which is designed to be used with a specially designed light. The ZOOM! light and gel work together to gently penetrate your teeth, breaking up stains and discoloration.

The complete procedure takes less than an hour. Following the preparation period, three cycles of 15 minutes each totally to 45 minutes completes the procedure.
