Whether you use one of those take-home bleaching kits, or you get an instant in-office whitening performed by your doctor, you're most likely to end up w/ sensitive teeth. Why? The good thing is, any sensitivity should disappear w/in a week or two. Your dentist should have told you that instead of promising improvements in 48 hours time.. If the sensitivity do not subside or gets worse after 2 weeks, then you should go back to your dentist and report it. You may have other problems like gum recessions, exposed dentin, or tooth cavities, that were already present before, but got worse when your teeth got exposed to acidic chemicals, such as the bleaching gels. Don't worry, because so far, in my practice, everybody that had undergone bleaching procedures had their post-op sensitivity resolved in a matter of 1 or 2 weeks. It's a reversible thing, dont worry.

ZIngers are not an uncommon side affect from in office whitening procedures. Ask your dental office if they have MI Paste in the office. This can be placed on the teeth to desensitize them. But by the time you call and get in, these zingers should be gone. Just be patient, it will stop on it's own relatively quickly.
